About the experience

This exclusive “Business Class” flight simulator experience gives you the opportunity to see what it’s like to pilot a commercial Boeing 737-800 airliner, hosted at the University of West London’s campus in Ealing. The university’s already quite well renowned for offering several aviation industry centric courses, but it’s also where the “Heathrow: The Journey” exhibition is housed, which explores the history of London’s busiest airport and how it came to be what it is today - which you of course can visit as an add-on to this experience. Better still, London Heathrow could well be where you are taking off from on this simulator experience - it is in the local area of course so it’d be very fitting! Sitting in the Captain’s seat on the simulator, the excitement will start to build, as you’ll be surrounded by fully operational control panels and HD screens offering a 180° view, with engine noises for as realistic an effect as possible. It can seem overwhelming to have so many levers, buttons, screens and computerised gauges all about you, but don’t worry - as we’re confident you’ll soon get the hang of it. And once you turn on the “No smoking” sign and flick on the strobe, beacon, wing and nav switches, your simulated flight begins! You’ll have approximately 80 minutes’ flying time on this experience, and get a real feel for what it’s like for those pilots operating these vast 60 tonne commercial aircraft on a daily basis.

  • Minimum age 12 - there is no upper age limit
  • If you are less than 4ft 8ins tall views from the cockpit will be restricted
  • Under 16s must be accompanied by a participating or spectating adult
  • Access to the simulator is somewhat restricted.  Wheelchair users or those with mobility issues should check for individual requirements
  • Not suitable for those with photo sensitive epilepsy
  • Up to 4 spectators are welcome to enjoy the experience for no additional charge
  • Flight time can be shared by up to 2 people for business class experiences
  • Spectators under 16, must be accompanied by another adult
