About the experience
You and the Spitfire enthusiast in your life will have the opportunity to pilot a fully working VR Spitfire Simulator near Blackpool! Based at a training station located on the same site as Blackpool Airport, this fully immersive simulator experience will give you the opportunity to experience flying during the Battle of Britain in World War II. In two simulators positioned side by side in an open hangar, you and your wingman or wingwoman can take off in formation, patrolling the skies as two. You could take flight in any number of scenarios, whether it’s outsmarting the Luftwaffe or going head to head in Spitfire vs Spitfire aerial combat. Words alone don’t do justice to how spectacular the 360° Air Combat Pro graphics are once you get your virtual reality headset on. You’ll have to keep your eyes open and your wits about you, as the Messerschmitts could appear when you least expect it. That’s where the action starts, as you enter battle in the skies above Normandy, and it’s every man for themselves as you feel every pitch and roll movement. The 60 minute experience will be preceded by a pre-flight briefing on how to operate and use the controls, and you’ll both be sat in a full-motion cockpit with joystick command. It’s the closest thing you can both feel to how the brave Spitfire pilots must have felt up in the skies during the Battle of Britain - and it all adds up to a truly exhilarating experience!
