Kirkbride Airfield
Kirkbride Airfield was first opened in May 1939 for aircraft storage and maintenance, keeping planes after being built before they were sent to the front line. The Airfield was used by the RAF for many years during WWII and they even used what is now the White Heather Hotel as a base. After the war was over the airfield returned to being used as storage for unwanted airframes. The airfield is now used for various Flying Experiences including Microlighting, Gyrocopters, light aircrafts and helicopters.
