East Midlands is located at the heart of it all. You can access the Heliport off of the A46 road and around a 25-minute drive southeast of Nottingham City Centre. You can also access the Heliport by the nearest train station, East Midlands Parkway, and grab a taxi that will get you to your destination in just under half an hour from the train drop-off.
Constructed in 2014, Nottingham Heliport is very well located and is set in 11 acres of private grounds. However, the routes you can take have some history. On the night of 16-17 May 1943, Wing Commander Guy Gibson led the 617 Squadron of the Royal Air Force on a bombing raid to destroy three dams in the Ruhr Valley, which was the heart of Germany's industrial developments. To prepare for this remarkable operation, the crews practised at several locations, including Derwent Reservoir in the Derbyshire Peak District.
