Previously an RAF airfield during World War II used by both the Royal Air Force and US Army Air Forces, in the post war years, Chalgrove Airfield, based in the Oxfordshire village of Chalgrove, was leased by Martin-Baker from July 1946 onwards for use as a site for testing and developing ejector seats.
Two of the original T2 hangars from WWII are still in use, and the runways and perimeter track still exist. These days, Chalgrove also happens to be home to Oxford Helipad. Half an hour away from the historic and world renowned university city of Oxford, a number of Helicopter Flights and Pleasure Flights are available to book here from this helicopter base.
Situated in the South East of England, Oxfordshire and the Severn Valley is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering plenty to see from many thousands of feet up in the sky. And whether it's a solo flight or one you're enjoying with a loved one, your on-board pilot will make sure you don't miss a second of any sights from the air, from lush green woodlands and open farmlands, to the famous Dreaming Spires of Oxford University itself!
