What Is Skydiving?
Skydiving - or parachuting as it's also known - is one of the most exhilarating forms of aviation. Reaching speeds of up to 120 mph, it is not for the faint hearted. Skydiving is a way of travelling from a high altitude back to ground.
Skydiving is a very popular form of flying, and is certainly an item on many people’s bucket lists, making it an ideal present to surprise a loved one with for their birthday, Christmas, Valentine’s Day or any other special occasions.
It’s also a widely chosen challenge for events like charity fundraisers, because of the mix of the thrill, excitement and bravery that freefalling with a parachute can bring - all whilst raising money for a good cause.
What Happens on a Skydiving Experience?
Typically, on one of our Skydiving packages, you’ll be welcomed to your chosen site or location by an expert instructor, who’ll go through your pre-jump training and give you a full safety briefing.
From there, you’ll get kitted up, and then it’s time for take off in the plane, from which you will leave and free fall from as much as 13,000 feet, racing through the air reaching speeds of up to 190 km/h, where you will experience true G-force.
And all this before the parachute is deployed, as you quickly decrease your speed to roughly 20 mph before gracefully gliding back to ground. Once back on terra firma, you’ll be quite sure that nothing beats this exhilarating flying experience.
Tandem Skydiving / Static Line Parachuting
There are two types of skydiving or parachuting that can be enjoyed on our experience packages, and these are Tandem or Static Line.
Tandem skydiving is a type of skydive where you will be connected to a harness which is attached to your instructor. You will be guided by your instructor throughout the whole jump, so you can really take in the view and experience without having to worry about controlling the parachute yourself.
Static line parachuting is a type of parachute jump that is done without an instructor strapped to you. 'Static Line' means you have a cord that is attached to the plane, so when you jump out, the parachute opens automatically without you having to pull it yourself, therefore you have full control over the flight as your parachute is out immediately after you jump.
Whichever option you choose, they both offer the same adrenaline rush that this unique flying day has to offer.
