Brown Shutters Airfield Flying Experiences
Brown Shutters Farm Airfield is located near the quiet Somerset village of Norton St Philip, and is just 15 minutes outside the centre of the historic spa city and UNESCO World Heritage site of Bath via the A36. This airfield is relatively new as to when it was founded, back in 1988. As you might well expect from its name, it's on farm land, and was established when a former Fleet Arm pilot and local man, Eric Newbigin, started operating his Tiger Moth from there.
Whilst it's been home to many different aircrafts over the last four decades (including the Tiger Moth), these days, it is perhaps best known for hosting Microlighting Lessons. For those who are new to flying, it's one of the lightest and most enjoyable ways of getting airborne.
Microlight Flying Experiences
Microlighting is an exhilarating adventure that puts you right in the heart of the action! Imagine soaring through the skies in a lightweight aircraft, feeling the rush of wind on your face and enjoying unobstructed, panoramic views. It's like riding a motorcycle in the sky—agile, thrilling, and absolutely unforgettable. We have 20 Minute, 30 Minute and 60 Minute Sessions available to book at Brown Shutters Farm Airfield, which are run and approved by the British Microlight Aircraft Association (BMAA). You'll receive a full briefing before your chosen session by a qualified microlighting instructor. And once you're strapped in and up in the air in either a flexwing or fixed-wing microlight, you'll find it's incredibly easy to pilot and navigate, as you build in confidence and start to attempt some light mid-air turns! For those looking for a gentle way into learning to fly, Microlighting is the best fit.
If your more into rotary aircraft however, we suggest heading to Clench Common Airfield, where we have some wonderful Gyrocopter Experiences on offer.
Flying Experiences in the South West
The South West is a wonderful place to jet off from, and with hundreds of Flying Experiences to choose from we have something for every interest! For some hands on experience, head to Yatesbury Airfield for an incredible Flying Lesson that can actually count towards a Private Pilots Licence (PPL)! And for the Vintage Aviation or Helicopter Fans - Journey to the Cotswolds for some Vintage Flying Experiences and Helicopter Tours jetting off from the lovely Cotswolds Airport.

Terms and Conditions for Brown Shutters Airfield
Once you order a voucher, it will be dispatched by one of our agency partners by e-voucher or by post, depending on which you choose when you checkout.
Vouchers are valid until the expiry date shown on your Voucher (typically 10-12 months).
In most cases, once you activate your voucher you will be sent the instructions to redeem the voucher directly with the airfield or operator. Because flying experiences (other than simulators) can only take place in suitable/ safe weather conditions, you must be prepared to be flexible on your activity date. If the agent or operator cancels your experience date, they will inform you as soon as possible and do their very best to offer an alternative date or location. Once a specific date has been booked, you will automatically become bound by the terms and conditions that the individual operator may have. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Whilst every effort is made to ensure the descriptions contained on our products are a true reflection of the experience, these do not form part of a contract. If on contacting the operator you feel that the activity taking place no longer accurately represents the activity purchased, the relevant agent will exchange the voucher or refund the purchase price.
