Information About Sibson Aerodrome

Sibson Aerodrome - sometimes known locally as Peterborough / Sibson Airport - is one of our most popular flying experience venues in East Anglia, positioned in the village of Sibson-cum-Stibbington in Cambridgeshire. It offers a wealth of great flying packages that can be booked here with us on FlyDays.

It is located north of the now defunct RAF Peterborough airbase that was in operation between 1932 and 1964, and is the only surviving reminder of that RAF base, the majority of which has now either returned to farming use or been demolished to make way for housing and new road links.

In its military operations, RAF Peterborough was the base of numerous units, particularly during World War II, such as the No. 7 Flying Training School and the No. 7 (Pilots) Advanced Flying Unit.

Today, Sibson Aerodrome is a privately run airfield, with several flying schools and clubs running from there including the Peterborough Flying School. It has a grass runway, measuring 935 x 30 metres, hangarage and fuelling facilities, plus a very popular licenced venue called the Blue Skies Bar which serves hot and cold refreshments.
