About the experience

Skydiving in Durham is an unforgettable experience, and this small, friendly centre just 10 miles from the city is the perfect place to take your first free-fall tandem jump. We’re offering vouchers for exhilarating tandem skydives from 13,500 feet. Located at Shotton Airfield on the edge of Peterlee, this is the only skydiving school in the entire North East – and it’s one of the best-equipped small airfields in the region too. It’s no surprise that this drop zone attracts adventurers from Durham and far beyond. When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by the ground team and introduced to your instructor before beginning your Documentation, Orientation, and Training session. Over the course of around 90 minutes, you’ll cover everything you need to know to stay safe in the air – from boarding and exiting the aircraft, to freefall positioning and safe landing techniques. Once kitted out and securely attached to your tandem instructor, you’ll board the Grand Caravan aircraft. As the plane climbs, the anticipation builds, and before you know it, you’ll be at the open door, gazing down at the beautiful patchwork of the Durham countryside below, ready to take the leap! Skydiving here runs midweek and on weekends/bank holidays from mid-February through to late November, and in most cases, you’ll train and jump on the same day. As an added bonus, the centre also offers free overnight camping and caravanning on site – so why not make a full adventure of it? Isn’t it time you took that tandem leap?

This was amazing from start to finish very professional and my instructor made my jump awesome. He put me at ease straight away and clearly very skilled making me laugh and definitely made the jump more enjoyable. I would recommend this to anyone and would love to do it again thanks x

My Daughter and I did the 15,000 ft tandem jump on 15th June and it was everything we expected it to be. The staff were really friendly and they were more like a jump Family. They were so professional at all times but still engaged in friendly banter which made everyone relaxed. Bradders was my jump instructor and Amy was my photographer and they were both lovely people as well as very professional skydivers. My whole experience was out of this world from the interview before the jump to landing . The 60 second freefall was amazing and the adrenalin rush cant be adequately described. Once the canopy is open you get the most amazing view for many many miles. It really is quite breath taking. Im a 63 year old recently retired Man and this is the best Fathers day I have ever had. It was made even better as my 39 year old Daughter jumped with me. A totally amazing experience that I will be doing again with my Daughter who wants to bring along her Sonmy Grandson next time. 3 Generations jumping together.....I cant wait A huge shout out to Bradders and Amy... You guys Rock
