Looking for exciting and friendly flying lessons in Sheffield? Look no further than Netherthorpe Airfield! We offer 15, 30, and 60-minute experiences in two-seater aircraft at this well-maintained airfield situated on the border between South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire. Netherthorpe Airfield has been a popular destination for flying enthusiasts since 1933 when a group of pilots took to the fields to fly their Tiger Moths. After a period as an RAF base, the airfield has been used for civil aviation since 1961, when the first Sheffield aero club arrived. All of our pilots at Netherthorpe are fully CAA accredited, with many hours of flying experience under their belts. From your very first lesson, you'll have the opportunity to take control of the plane yourself. Before taking to the skies, you'll receive a ground briefing to explain how your experience will proceed and to familiarise you with the basic controls of the aircraft. Once you're ready, you'll head out to the plane, which will be a two-seater light sports aircraft.

An excellent experience and even better than I expected I thoroughly enjoyed the morning I spent using my Into the blue voucherI was well briefed and all aspects of the flight and descent were clearly explained to me as we progressed As we flew over the local area, land marks and geographical features were pointed out which really added to my first flight experience in a small plane Thank you to the Into the blue team who made booking and the admin aspects very straight forward and particularly my pilot Dennis who was excellent, reassuring and answered all my questionsI can definitely recommend the experience to anyone who is looking to gift this opportunity, or attend it for themselves
