About the experience
Flying lessons are offered at Halfpenny Green Airport near Wolverhampton! We provide vouchers for 30-minute trial flights in a four-seater aircraft, easily accessible from Birmingham and across the Midlands. This flying school primarily uses Piper PA28s and Cessna 172s, which are ideal trainer aircraft. Halfpenny Green is a well-maintained, welcoming aerodrome with a distinctive memorial sculpture at the entrance and pleasant blue and whitewashed buildings. Originally opened as an RAF station in 1941 and known as Bobbington Airport, this triple-runway airfield has allowed civilian flights since 1961 and hosts around 70 aircraft today. The original control tower has been transformed into a café and restaurant, perfect for a pilot's essential full English breakfast! - Spectators are welcome to attend and watch participants in flight with plenty of great photo opportunities.
- Participants of four-seater flights may bring one interested observer (min age 14) who can observe the lesson from the rear seat (at the discretion of the flight instructor and subject to weather conditions)
- Minimum age of 14 years old
- Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult on the airfield
- A photographic ID will be required on the day

Apart from the actual experience of being up in the plain, the team on site were polite, pleasant to be around, not only that were more than happy to take my 8 Ur old daughter with us.
whilst being in the air, the Pilot held conversation throughout the flight, gave knowledge talking through the instrument panel and how the aircraft roles and pitches etc.
I'd quite happily recommend this to anyone.

This was a brilliant experience ! I thought it would just be me taking the controls once airborne, but I taxied, down the runway and the instructor ( niel ) showed how to do the instruments and radio check. And then I took off! The dual controls meant that he could take over and adjust. When I drifted off the flight line ... a super experience which I can recommend

The set up is great , fantastic setting with fab facilities. The staff are wonderful so welcoming and reassuring. Went for a 30 minute trial flight and wow what an experience, arrived early as advised and got to help fill up the plane then off we went into the air once up in the air control was handed to me and what a feeling , 30 minutes flew by (35 minutes as we ran over a little).Will be returning soon for the hour lesson and definitely taking a passenger in the back to capture everything.Can't remember the gentleman that greeted us a the beginning or the pilots name (buzzing from the flight).But both where great and made me feel comfortable and help in every way possible.

Pleased booking was available over the bank holiday weekend. Time of flight was changed day before but only by an hour. Then on the day, they were running ahead of schedule so we went up as soon as we got there. Not really a briefing before taking off. Enjoyed being able to ride as passenger in back - taking photos and watching partner enjoy his experience. Hour was a good amount of time - partner had control for over 35 minutes. Little hiccup with GPS battery failing but luckily all ended well with a funny story to tell

Wow what an experience! I bought a 45 minute flying lesson for my son and it didn't disappoint at all. All the staff were really welcoming and friendly and really put you at ease. They have their own "departure lounge" with refreshments where you can wait and watch the planes take off and land. There is an outdoor seating area too. Once in the plane the pilot was great. Once we had taken off he let my son take the controls which he loved. We got to fly over our house which was fantastic. If you were thinking of having a flying lesson or buying one as a present this is definitely the flying school to do it with. Highly recommended!
