About the experience

The quiet Leicestershire village of Buckminster can occasionally hear the whirr of an engine - a model plane engine, that is - for this is the home of the BMFA (British Model Flying Association). And it's here that you can learn how to master the essentials when it comes to flying radio controlled model planes, with this Basic Flight Training session! Your qualified training coach for your session is Russ, who is not only handy at flying the scaled down models but also the genuine article, and is a qualified instructor and examiner on commercial aircraft too. But he loves flying both big and small planes alike! He is both enthusiastic but also super patient and knowledgeable - the best combination you could hope for in a flying coach. At the BMFA's 40 acre site, overlooking the countryside surrounding nearby Grantham and Melton Mowbray, you'll have plenty of space to learn to fly, and begin your journey towards attaining your 'A' test, which shows to model clubs that you are certified safe to fly. What's more, the BMFA also has an RC model museum, Flyers' Cafe and a very active and lively events diary, with plenty of fly-ins, competitions and swap meets to get involved with. For those looking to fly radio controlled planes, BMFA Buckminster has to be the best place to start!
