Aviation enthusiasts inspired by the maiden flight of iconic World War Two fighter aircraft, the Supermarine Spitfire, in March 1936 can follow in the flight path of legends via flying lessons through leading flying experience provider, FlyDays.co.uk.
Widely recognised as one of the most famous aircraft of all time, the Spitfire will no doubt have inspired many people to one day climb into the cockpit. Unfortunately, these opportunities are few and far between, but with FlyDays.co.uk, thrill seekers can finally take to the skies in what will surely be a once in a lifetime experience.
Dan Jones, operation manager at FlyDays.co.uk, commented: “You don’t need to be an aviation expert to spot the immortal shape of the Spitfire, or recognise the evocative sound of its Rolls-Royce Merlin engine from miles away.
“These features make the Spitfire one of the most adored aircraft among the British public, not to mention recognition of the pivotal role the aircraft played in the victorious Battle of Britain in 1940.
“Those inspired by the Spitfire, can now head skyward in a range of flying lessons which will surely make them appreciate the skills required to use this aircraft and others in combat all those years ago.”
The Spitfire was designed by the legendary aircraft designer, Reginald Mitchell, who drew up his plans for the supermarine after spending many hours watching seagulls fly.
Dan added: “The legendary aircraft designer, Reginald Mitchell, used seagulls as inspiration when he designed the Spitfire and no doubt the aircraft has inspired the development of many more since. However, now is the time for the public to be inspired, and to get into an aircraft cockpit themselves.”
