New data shows that adventurous Brits would prefer to be pilots than passengers.
The research by FlyDays.co.uk of its most popular flying experiences, reveals that learning to fly a helicopter was by far the most popular package, way ahead of other flying experiences, including aeroplane pleasure flights and balloon rides.
In fact, its a tactical flying lesson, which is aimed at beginners and lets them actually fly a helicopter for the first time, is almost twice as popular as the second most booked experience, which is a themed helicopter flight where the professional pilot stays firmly in control.
Indeed, the helicopter flying lesson gets almost 1 in 5 bookings, compared to the helicopter pleasure flight which receives almost 1 in 10 bookings on the site.
Dan Jones, operations manager at FlyDays.co.uk, said: "Our data shows that the sky's the limit for Brits who have lofty ambitions of becoming a helicopter pilot."
The popularity of our helicopter flying lessons, which are aimed at novices taking their first steps into aviation, is quite incredible when you consider the wide variety of other, more relaxing flying experiences available, such as ballooning and pleasure flights.
Nevertheless, it appears overall that Brits can't wait to actually take the controls of a helicopter or an aeroplane, as these beginner's lessons make up almost half of our top 10 most popular experiences.
Many of the flying lessons with FlyDays.co.uk can count as the first steps towards a Private Pilots Licence or a Helicopter Pilots Licence, and take place under the instruction of a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) qualified instructor.
Dan added: "Learning to fly is a truly rewarding experience and a great adrenaline rush. More importantly, it could ignite a passion for aviation and lead to a future career as a pilot."
