Tutorial take off

Even though the school bell has rung signalling the start of the half term, it doesn't necessarily mean the end of learning. Youngsters can have their eyes opened to the amazing world of aviation - with expert instructors as their favourite teacher. Fun 'lessons' include drone flying and flight simulators where skills learnt could come in very useful in future careers.

GCSE – great, captivating, stunning experiences

Remember the saying when you were at school, 'always read the question'. This time the question is, 'how old do I need to be to fly an aeroplane for the first time?'. Well, children as young as 14 can take the cockpit controls in the captain's seat.

Flying lessons combine excitement and education, appealing to pilots of the future, among others. These first steps flying an aeroplane will have a lasting, positive impact, hopefully sparking a passion to gain a pilot's license and progress into commercial flying.

A Level or aviation level?

Informative school years can be boosted with extracurricular activities, and fewer pursuits can be more exciting than a glider flight or indoor skydiving.

Both provide participants with physical activity and require quick reactions and sharp thinking, especially if given the opportunity to fly the glider.

Furthermore, both experiences provide a fantastic sense of achievement, increasing confidence levels ahead of the return to school.

Studies in the sky

October half term holiday is the perfect opportunity for children to head skywards, but not to go on holiday but rather to actually fly the aircraft.

Flying an aeroplane requires a number of valuable skill sets such as decision making, being calm, showing attention to detail, displaying leadership qualities and being a team member, while technical skills include navigation, data analysis and a knowledge of maths.

Flying high with history lessons

Youngsters aged 14 and above can immerse themselves in a golden age of aviation with a vintage flying experience.

These unique experiences pay respect to aircraft that helped shape the world as it is today.

There's the chance to see a Spitfire in all its glory with a wing to wing flying experience, or take the controls of a Tiger Moth, the main primary trainer plane used by the RAF.

Alternatively, jump in the cockpit of a Harvard T6 Warbird, another training aeroplane for pilots before they saw action, or fly an ex-military Piper Cub.
