The Royal Air Force is a national treasure in the UK, and the upcoming air show on Sunday 12th June is a great chance to travel to Shropshire to see some of the most elite pilots in the world put on a spell-binding show.

Being the only air show in the country endorsed by the Royal Air Force, the exhibition is always a fixture in aviation and military buff's calendars.

However, with this year's event tying in with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee - as well as it being the first show since the COVID-19 pandemic - now is as good a time as ever for you to enjoy a memorable day out and pay homage to our nation's beloved air force.

• So, What's On?

On the day, you'll be treated to spectacular air displays by the RAF, Typhoon and Falcon display teams, with six hours of heart-stopping aerobatic stunts and choreography that can only be seen to be believed. Aside from the incredible air show, there's also plenty to see and do on the ground.

Attractions at the event include a coronation village dedicated to Her Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, a street party where you can treat yourself to a drink at the pub or enjoy some tea and cake, and even live musical performances.

There will also be a STEM Hangar, showing the best that the RAF has to offer in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics sectors.

Indeed, 2022 marks the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II. And with the RAF Cosford Air Show taking place on the weekend after the special four-day jubilee holiday weekend, the event ties in nicely with the celebrations.

Pledging to the Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War II, Elizabeth certainly played an important task during a period of great strain for the whole world.

And with the RAF playing such a pivotal role in the defence of our nation, it seems very fitting that the return of such an important air show would be so timely.
