Top flight…UK’s most popular football stadiums revealed

  • Back of the net…Old Trafford tops the helicopter stadium tour popularity stakes
  • West Ham’s London Stadium most popular in the south-east
  • FlyDays.co.uk reveals the most popular stadiums for helicopter tours

A new study has revealed the UK’s most popular football stadiums, with Manchester United’s Old Trafford winning the 2020 season.

However, it is closely followed by the Etihad Stadium, home ground of fierce rivals Manchester City, based on the number of helicopter football stadium tours booked with FlyDays.co.uk.

Indeed, the research by FlyDays.co.uk, to see who are the most passionate football supporters, discovered that Manchester United fans are most likely to book a helicopter stadium tour, which are available as vouchers with FlyDays.co.uk.

Staying in the north-west of England, Anfield, home of high-flying Liverpool, and Everton’s Goodison Park are among the elite stadiums. Meanwhile in the south-east of England, also home to some of the country’s biggest football clubs, West Ham’s London Stadium is the most popular for a helicopter stadium tour.

Meanwhile north of the border - and perhaps less surprisingly - it is Scottish football’s two giants, Celtic and Rangers, who play at Celtic Park and Ibrox Stadium respectively, that took top honours.

St James’ Park, home ground for Newcastle United, also makes it into the FlyDays.co.uk top eight most popular football stadiums.

Dan Jones, operations manager at FlyDays.co.uk, said: “It’s a fiercely contested subject as to who are the most passionate football supporters in the UK, debated for decades in pubs and clubs up and down the country.

“However, our study indicates that Manchester United fans take the title in 2020, as these supporters consistently go the extra mile in showing love for their club. They book the most helicopter football stadium tours, surely one of the most devoted expressions of loyalty to their football team and its home ground.”

Typically, a helicopter football stadium tour involves a 30-mile flight, the highlight of which is flying over the football stadium and seeing it from a completely new perspective high above.

For more information about FlyDays.co.uk, or to book a helicopter stadium tour at one of 18 grounds across the UK, and which are available as vouchers and valid for up to 10 months visit the flying experiences page.
