Helicopter rides reign supreme over the urban jungle, while flying lessons in small aircraft are most popular in rural locations, according to newly analysed booking data from us here at FlyDays.
The new geographical research shows a clear split in the preferred mode of flying experience, whether it's over a city compared to flying in the countryside.
Helicopter experiences took the lion's share of bookings, around 2 in 3 of all bookings, when taking to skies over cities and towns.
However, on the opposite side of this, flying lessons in fixed wing aircraft are the most popular experience in rural locations, accounting for 7 in 10 of all bookings, away from the bright lights.
Dan Jones, operations manager at FlyDays.co.uk, said: “Our latest research shows that flying experiences are clearly split between town and country. Helicopters reign supreme over the city, while fixed wing aircraft are the rural kings of the sky. Helicopters often conjure up images of glitz and glamour, so perhaps they are more at home above a busy and energetic backdrop!”
Meanwhile, further research of helicopter experiences by FlyDays.co.uk also revealed which are the most popular helicopter football stadium tours based on the number of bookings.
It found that flying over Old Trafford was the top flight, closely followed by the Etihad Stadium, home ground of fierce rivals Manchester City.
Dan added: “Whether it's in a helicopter or a small aircraft, both have their own unique attractions for a flying experience. The panoramic view from a helicopter is second to none, while small aircraft, often flying out of small privately run airfields, offer individuality that is hard to beat.”
