About the experience

Embark on an exhilarating journey with this 30-minute, two-seater flying lesson from the charming Cumbernauld Airport in North Lancashire! Just a stone's throw away from Glasgow and Edinburgh, it's the perfect spot for your first flight. From its humble beginnings as a grass strip in 1966, the airport has evolved into a modern hub, boasting a new asphalt runway and terminal building. Whether you're interested in flying lessons, hangarage, aircraft maintenance, or chartering services, this airport has it all. Your adventure begins by meeting your friendly instructor pilot, who will guide you through the lesson. After a thorough safety briefing and an introduction to the aircraft's controls, it's time to soar into the skies of Glasgow. You'll be piloting a cozy 2-seater Cessna, with your instructor handling the takeoff and landing duties. Once in level flight, you'll take the controls and experience the thrill of flying firsthand. Best of all, this lesson can count towards your Private Pilot's License (PPL), making it both an exciting experience and a valuable step towards becoming a certified pilot. I was given a flying lesson as a present. It was something I always wanted to do. It was an amazing experience. The instructor was very happy to answer all my questions and give some information about continuing lessons to get a piolt's licence. The view was an experience in itself. I would recommend the experience to anyone.

Simply the best experience of my life! Of my 45 minute flight I flew - yes I flew -for 40 minutes - how good is that? Never imagined for one moment I would get control for such a long period and Dave my pilot just let me get on with it. I cannot thank the people at Cumbernauld enough the trip of a lifetime and the bucket list well and truly ticked. I will just have to win the lottery now and learn how to fly!

This flying lesson was a gift was for my father, a 72 year old action man. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was money well spent. He said that the scenery was incredible and enjoyed being in the cockpit, quizzing the pilot.

The aeroplane was smaller than I had thought it would be. Quite cramped and strong smell of aviation fuel. An interesting experience and the pilot was very informative about all the places we could see. Luckilyy, it was a clear day so visibility was good.

My experience was a 20 minute flying experience from Cumbernauld airport. My instructor John introduced himself him a kind and responsive manner. He showed me out to the airfield and showed me the aircraft we would be flying. It was a Cessna 152 the plane it's self looked old however it still purred like a cat and at no point did I not feel safe. After take off I realised that the radio/intercom system was very poor and I couldn't hear a word what John was saying to me. After a few hand signals he gave me full control of the Cessna. I have had some flight simulator experience so I pretty much knew what I was doing. After 20 minutes of flying he directed me back to the airfield and allowed me to descend when we got to around 100ft John took over the controls. The weather was a mild day with low winds and the aircraft was a little shakey therefor I can understand if flights are cancelled due to weather, this would have been an awful experience if it was really windy. The full experience was great from start to finish only thing that was annoying was the radio system. I felt like I was annoying asking him to repeat everything and still not being able to hear. I would highly recommend. If the company had to upgrade there radio/intercom I can't see why anyone would have a bad experience.
