About the experience

Prepare to go chocks away in a biplane with a most unusual name - the Thruxton Jackaroo - on this 45 Minute Biplane Flight for two at Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent! It’s definitely one of the rarest examples of a biplane, as only 19 were ever made. However, its official name - the DH82A (Mod) Jackaroo - should offer insight into its origins, as it is in fact a (converted) deHavilland Tiger Moth, and it is believed to be the only one of its kind that’s still airworthy! The history is that, following a ban on a multitude of imported goods - aeroplanes included - the surplus of Tiger Moths were converted into four seater cabin tourers for pleasure flights by Thruxton and Rollason, which offered a wider undercarriage, new positioning for the engine, and increased cabin space. And not only were they used for pleasure flights, but they were also used for a whole variety of other reasons, from crop spraying to training aircraft for parachutists. It’s been preserved lovingly with its blue and silver livery, and definitely evokes its stance as being “The Gentleman’s Carriage”! The dual control, closed cockpit, four seater aircraft is truly a special one to take flight in - as you’ll both discover on this one of a kind vintage flying experience!
