Explore the Lake District from the air on a 45-minute gyrocopter flying lesson, taking off from the privately owned Berrier Airfield near Keswick. This unforgettable experience combines breathtaking scenery with expert, hands-on tuition from highly experienced pilot Roger Savage. As the only airfield within the Lake District National Park, Berrier offers incredible views from the moment you lift off — from rolling farmland and sparkling lakes to rugged peaks like Blencathra and nearby Ullswater. Before flying, you will enjoy a full ground briefing where you can help plan your route, with possible highlights including Keswick, Hadrian’s Wall or even the Cumbrian coast, weather permitting. You will take the front seat for uninterrupted views, while Roger guides you from behind. The gyrocopter is dual-controlled, so if you’re feeling confident, you will have the chance to take the controls yourself. Whether you choose to fly or simply soak up the scenery, this 45-minute lesson is a truly unique way to experience the magic of the Lakes.

  • Alternatively, the beautiful Ullswater Valley, Pooley Bridge, High Street, Haweswater, Lowther Castle and parts of the Eden Valley.  Return via some of the pretty East Fellside villages and Penrith

Had a fantastic 90 minute flight around the Western Lakes and Fells of The Lake District with my pilot Roger, taking off from Berrier airfield. A very professional set up. He explained the controls and aircraft characteristics in advance and I felt totally safe throughout. Really enjoyed seeing most of The Lakes and Fells from above and seeing many of the places Ive previously walked. I suspect I will be back for more, highly recommended.
