About the experience

Go where only the brave fear to tread - or, in this case, fly - with this high octane Wing Walking experience in Lincolnshire! Located on the outskirts of the Lincolnshire Wolds (a recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and just under half an hour's drive away from Lincoln itself, your destination for this experience will be Wickenby Aerodrome. Wing walking on the top wing of a genuine vintage biplane, the Boeing Stearman, these exhilarating experiences are run and fully operated by specialists, and so thus meet all the required regulations of the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority). And the location of this airfield is within easy reach for those in the immediate surrounding areas including the East Midlands, South Yorkshire and of course, Lincolnshire itself. And with its original 1940s control tower still standing, which is in use as an on-site museum and cafe, it provides the perfect authentic backdrop for a spot of vintage biplane flying with a difference. And that'll also be music to the ears of any spectators you wish to bring along (you can have up to 50 friends and family in attendance on the day). Some are more brave than others on top of the wing - whether they just opt for a wave or two (which itself is a tricky task with the high speeds and wind resistance) whilst others put their arms and legs fully aloft. Either way, it promises to be a day up in the air unlike any other you'll have done before!

My family purchased this experience for my milestone birthday. Unfortunately for me, the date I originally booked was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances so it had to be rebooked and all dates for that year were fully booked! A new date was arranged for 2020 which again was cancelled due to Covid. A new date was arranged again for 2021. Unfortunately I had to postpone again this time due to health reasons. Both Richard Pickering & Into the Blue were amazing during the whole process, extending my voucher and helping with rearranging the booking etc. I finally did it 2022 and it was the best day I have ever been lucky enough to experience. The wing walking company were professional and made me feel very relaxed. It was also lovely that Richard was my pilot on the day too after corresponding with him for so long. The experience itself was fabulous, I had so much fun and would love to do it again and again.

Absolutely brilliant experience. After a delay because of Covid-19 restrictions I completed my wing walk last month. I would recommend it to anyone, it’s not at all scary. I feel totally rejuvenated by it and am definitely going to do it again! Thank you to all from “Into the blue” for extending my voucher and to everyone at “The Wing Walk” company for making a long held ambition possible. You have all made this “daredevil” granny very happy.

Because of high winds the Wing Walk had to be postponed but they were very obliging and arranged for us early the next morning. A great experience and a bucket list achievement - many thanks!!
