Carlisle Airport Flying Experiences

Carlisle Airport, also known as Carlisle Lake District Airport, is located about 6 miles east of Carlisle in Cumbria, England. Nestled in a scenic area near the Lake District and Solway Coast, the airport features a variety of aircraft, including Small Planes and Helicopters, along with essential facilities like Hangars and Runways. It offers Flying Lessons with professional instructors, making it a perfect spot for aviation enthusiasts to learn or enhance their flying skills.

Flying Lessons

If you can manage to take your eyes off the gorgeous scenery, then you can also enjoy a 30 minute flying lesson in a two-seater aeroplane. It’s a great introduction to the magical world of aviation and provides a hands-on taste of what it’s actually like to fly an aeroplane and be a pilot.

The experience, which can count towards gaining a Private Pilot Licence, also includes a short pre-flight briefing from a qualified instructor. You’ll also receive a signed certificate from your instructor in recognition of your time flying an aeroplane. Carlisle also has a 60 minute flying lesson for budding pilots wanting a bit longer in the air. Once again, it offers a first hand glimpse of what it takes to fly an aeroplane, as you take the controls with an expert instructor by your side.

As part of the pre-flight briefing, you’ll learn how an aeroplane flies, including the effects of the aeroplane's controls. It’s a great way to head skywards, either as a one off experience or to see if flying could be a future pastime for you to enjoy.

At Barton Aerodrome, Microlighting offers a thrilling way to see the countryside and Manchester's skyline from above. Manchester City Airport offers unique Helicopter Tours over prominent landmarks, including Football Stadiums, and provides the chance to immerse yourself in the ultimate aviation experience with Boeing 737 Simulator Sessions. Each location offers a unique and fun activity, making the North West a fantastic region for flying enthusiasts.

Terms and Conditions for Carlisle Airport

Once you order a voucher, it will be dispatched by one of our agency partners by e-voucher or by post, depending on which you choose when you checkout.

Vouchers are valid until the expiry date shown on your Voucher (typically 10-12 months).

Because flying experiences (other than simulators) can only take place in suitable/ safe weather conditions, you must be prepared to be flexible on your activity date. If the agent or operator cancels your experience date, they will inform you as soon as possible and do their very best to offer an alternative date or location. Once a specific date has been booked, you will automatically become bound by the terms and conditions that the individual operator may have. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Whilst every effort is made to ensure the descriptions contained on our products are a true reflection of the experience, these do not form part of a contract. If on contacting the operator you feel that the activity taking place no longer accurately represents the activity purchased, the relevant agent will exchange the voucher or refund the purchase price.
