Placed just outside Worksop in Nottinghamshire, Netherthorpe Airfield is the home of the Sheffield Aero Club, officially recognised as one of the leading PPL flying schools in the East Midlands. Originally opened in the 1930s, the Aero Club have been based here since 1961, and offer aviation enthusiasts in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and the surrounding counties the chance to fly light aircraft on a number of different Flying Lessons. Flying Lessons

Book the budding pilot in your life a Flying Lesson at Netherthorpe Airfield, led by expert instructors, you'll be guided through every step of basic flying during your experience. Your pilot will handle getting you airborne, and once at level flight, the controls will be handed to you! With 15 minute to a whole three hour session available, there is plenty of time to hone your skills and get a real feel for pilot life - and If you fall in love with the feeling of flight, you'll be happy to know that all lesson time can count towards a Private Pilots Licence (PPL) so you can go on to develop your knowledge further!

If you would like to gain some hands-on knowledge in a different type of aircraft, head to Melbourne Airfield for a brilliant Helicopter Flying Lesson or Microlight Flight where you'll get the opportunity to take the controls.

Each of these unique flying experiences highlights the diverse and exhilarating ways to appreciate Yorkshire's scenic beauty from the air.

Terms and Conditions for Netherthorpe Airfield

Once you order a voucher, it will be dispatched by one of our agency partners by e-voucher or by post, depending on which you choose when you checkout.

Vouchers are valid until the expiry date shown on your Voucher (typically 10-12 months).

In most cases, once you activate your voucher you will be sent the instructions to redeem the voucher directly with the airfield or operator. Because flying experiences (other than simulators) can only take place in suitable/ safe weather conditions, you must be prepared to be flexible on your activity date. If the agent or operator cancels your experience date, they will inform you as soon as possible and do their very best to offer an alternative date or location. Once a specific date has been booked, you will automatically become bound by the terms and conditions that the individual operator may have. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Whilst every effort is made to ensure the descriptions contained on our products are a true reflection of the experience, these do not form part of a contract. If on contacting the operator you feel that the activity taking place no longer accurately represents the activity purchased, the relevant agent will exchange the voucher or refund the purchase price.
